Our Philosophy

We acknowledge

We acknowledge the Boonwurrung/ Bunurong people as the custodians of the land on which our service resides. We pay respect to Elders past, present and future and value the history, culture and knowledge they share.

At Lyndel, we believe that each child’s health and wellbeing is fostered through education on healthy eating, safe play practices, sustainable practices, effective hygiene procedures and physical activity, these are promoted positively by educators to ensure all children are engaged and feel included.

We value early childhood education as the foundation for lifelong learning. The rights of a child are paramount.

We understand the value of assisting children to develop positive self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth and strong positive identities by ensuring they feel safe, secure and respected while attending our service.

We believe

Care, dignity, and respect will be given to every child and their family, in relation to their uniqueness and individuality; their learning, individual growth, and development, cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds.

We believe that children are successful, competent and capable learners and it is our responsibility to provide a stimulating, open minded, age appropriate and child centred learning environment and program which encourages children’s autonomy and independence.

Each child is provided opportunities to explore a meaningful and secure environment, that encourages growth, risk taking and enhances the child’s existing knowledge.

We believe that children are the driving force of their learning and provide opportunities for their voices to be heard.

We understand

Children, parents, families, educators and community members are treated with respect and dignity and their views are considered and valued. All educators aim to be as helpful and supportive of families as possible.

We understand the importance of positive, functional attachments in a young child’s life and we strive to develop healthy, secure attachments with the children in our care, in an effort to promote optimal development.

Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are valued and the traditional owners of our land are respected and acknowledged. The culture of our First Nations is embedded into everyday planning and practice.

As Educators

We uphold the understanding and respect that parents, families and carers are their child’s first teacher and aim to support them for the upbringing, protection and development of their children.

We Value

the knowledge we gain from these partnerships to develop trust and to gain valuable insights and perspectives about children, while ensuring we remain child focused.

Meet our
Centre Director

Hi, I’m Narelle! I am a mum to two adult children, two adopted twins, as well as a Nana to two gorgeous boys. I started working in Early Childhood Education in 1990 and have been at Lyndel Childcare Centre since 1999. I have my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and also completed training at Queen Elizabeth Centre and Frankston Midwifery to qualify as an Early Parenting Practitioner.

I have been the Centre Director at Lyndel since January 2018 and find it so rewarding providing children and their families with the highest quality of care. I feel extremely privileged to be a part of the Lyndel family, and am a strong advocate for inclusion and supporting each child to experience a loving and nurturing environment where children are free to explore, learn and grow.
